Description

The Yellow Tail Acei is one of the most peaceful mbuna and can be housed with less aggressive African cichlids. It can fight when it needs to though and also fits in well with more aggressive fish.

Scientific Name: Pseudotropheus sp. "Acei" (Msuli)
Common Name: Yellow Tail Acei, Acei
Geographic Origin: Lake Malawi, Africa
Habitat: Sand
Gender Difference: Monomorphic - Males are larger than females. The dorsal fin of this fish can also be used to differentiate between the sexes. Female dorsal fins are solid yellow while the male's fins show both blue and yellow.
Breeding: Maternal Mouthbrooder
Temperament: Mildly Aggressive
Maximum Size: 6"
Temperature: 78-82 degrees Fahrenheit
pH: 7.8-8.6
Water Hardness: Hard
Water Region: Top, Middle & Bottom
How many?: These fish are harem breeders and can be slightly aggressive towards members of their own species. It is advisable to keep 2-3 females per male. You can keep multiple males in a tank as long as there are enough females to keep them occupied and enough room in the tank.
Diet: Herbivore - we suggest pellet foods such as NLS Cichlid Formula with treats of algae or spirulina.
